Cast of Characters and Brief Bios

• Name: The essence of movement and creation. A vibrant hero who emerges as the hope of humanity, wielding the power of both light and darkness. Name confronts the etymology of words to dismantle oppression and reveals a new understanding of God. His name itself embodies duality, meaning both "enemy" and "amen." In the oppositional storyline, Name is a choreographer of reality who seeks to impose order on Sudan.
• The Black Rider: A being of darkness and oppression who emerges from the depths of the earth. He seeks to control creation, sow discord, and maintain power through fear, famine, disease, and the manipulation of rulers. In the oppositional storyline, the Black Rider (or the Black Riders) represents an unyielding spirit of Sudan resisting imposed order.
• Adam: The first man, created by Name. He experiences loneliness, and his naming of Eve signifies the beginning of future generations and the inheritance of the Black Rider's darkness. In the reinterpretation, Adam is initially seen by the Lord God as encompassing both male and female aspects.
• Eve: The first woman, created by Name out of Adam's being. She is characterized by her beauty, strength, and an insatiable thirst for understanding and knowledge, which the Black Rider exploits. Her act of eating the forbidden fruit leads to the introduction of darkness into the world, and she is recognized by Adam as the mother of all living.
• God (The Creator): Revealed by Name as a spirit beyond the constraints of male or female, existing as one being encompassing both. In the reinterpretation of creation, the Lord God is initially seen as recognizing Adam as God because Adam contained Eve within him before she was separated.
• The Lord God (in Reinterpretation): Presented as the entity who created the dark Adam and Eve. Initially recognized Adam as God because he had Eve within him, and then separated Eve from Adam.
• The People of Sudan: Represent humanity under the influence of the Black Rider in the primary narrative, suffering from oppression, famine, and disease. In the oppositional storyline, they are depicted as having a vibrant history and an inherent power that resists external control.
• The Riders (in Oppositional Storyline): Arising from the land of Cush (Sudan), these figures are cloaked in ebony and represent the antithesis of Name's imposed order, embodying the unyielding truth and primal power of the land. They resist being choreographed.
