Binaural Rhythms and Neurodiversity in Ocean Duran's Work

Binaural rhythms are a significant element in Ocean Duran's broader project, which appears to be an exploration of interconnected ideas related to neurodiversity, language, and personal experience [1, 2]. Here's how binaural rhythms relate to the broader themes in Duran's work:

• Exploration of Altered States of Perception: Duran's use of binaural rhythms is a way to explore altered states of perception and how individuals experience the world differently [1, 2]. This is a key component of the broader project, as it directly relates to the theme of neurodiversity and the diverse ways people process sensory information and engage with the world [1, 2]. By using binaural rhythms to explore altered states of perception, Duran is engaging with how the mind works and processes information [1, 2].
• Connection to Neurodiversity: The inclusion of binaural rhythms alongside the theme of neurodiversity suggests an interest in how auditory stimulation might affect individuals with diverse cognitive styles [1, 2]. This highlights the idea that different people may respond to and process sensory input in unique ways, which aligns with Duran's broader exploration of neurodiversity as a valued difference, rather than a deficit [1-3].
• Interdisciplinary Approach: The use of binaural rhythms is part of Duran's interdisciplinary approach, which combines themes like neurodiversity, linguistics, and etymology [1, 2]. This interdisciplinary approach suggests that Duran is exploring connections between auditory perception, brain function, language, and personal experience [1, 2]. It shows that Duran is not just exploring these themes in isolation but also how they interplay with one another [1, 2].
• Personal and Subjective Exploration: The use of binaural rhythms, like all other elements of the Bublup roll, reflects Duran’s personal and subjective exploration of these topics [1, 2, 4]. The way these ideas are incorporated into the roll represents Duran’s unique perspective and journey of thought [1, 2]. The Bublup roll is described as a collection of loosely connected ideas, likely reflecting the creator's personal journey of thought and discovery [4].
• Auditory Metaphor : The inclusion of audio files such as "wpdaaudio2.m4a" alongside the mention of binaural rhythms and the metaphor of water indicates an interest in the power of sound and auditory experience [1, 2]. This suggests that Duran views sound as a medium to explore and alter perception [1, 2]. In summary, binaural rhythms serve as a tool for exploring altered perception and diverse cognitive styles within the larger context of Duran's project [1, 2]. This exploration is deeply interwoven with Duran's other interests such as neurodiversity, linguistics, and etymology, reflecting an interdisciplinary and personal approach to understanding the human experience [1, 2]. The use of binaural rhythms is also tied to Duran's interest in how the mind engages and processes information [1, 2]. This is in line with Duran's subjective and personal view, and is presented as part of a unique, evolving collection of ideas [4, 5].
